"ällötyksiä ja söpöläisiä"

The new list of invasive species in Finland is in the news... with a title saying that there are both cute and yucky species. Am I just a picky and dusty academic who things that this was a stupid way to say it? Or is it really so that usually people think of animals and plants in the first place as a continuum from cute to beautiful, ugly to disgusting, based subjective liking of their looks? And that this is a way of thinking that the main newspaper - which usually has a bit higher quality journalism than Se og Hør - should be uncritical to?
