La mamman eväät

The last weeks our communication with my mother has become more and more "literary". We talk often using phrases from Asterix, Jalna, Sinikka Nopolas books about Eila and Rampe (and some others), Muumi, Marsupilami... (all what we read does not qualify as quality literature, rather more as "attic literature") - all in an incoprehensible mixture. In the worst case when nothing else fits we cite our car-gps. It is fast to develop a new language!

Some of the books we have been inspired are Annie Hawkes books from Liguria. In one of them Annie ends up to travel by train, accompanied with her boyfriends mothers ("la mamma's" - who is quite a strong character, but her personality has in a way nothing to do with this text so I try to keep in the topic) food supplies. The food that people eat in trains in those parts of Italy is very abundant, rather developed and exchanged in between people (apparently partly generously, partly in order to show whose food is best).

As I am leaving towards Tromsö tonight, and the trip lasts almost 24 hours, my mother supplied me generously... according to finest Italian tradition (even though Im not planning to share these foods with strangers I apparently feel the need to show off a bit as Im rather happy about my travelling-food). La mammas food supplies include (from top left):
fruit salad (HM)
garlic-olive-beans (HM)
smoked fish and cucumber
Ahvenanmaa pancake (HM)
dolmades (HM)
dark bread with ham, cheese, tomato and cucumber
mushroom salad (HM)
karjalanpiirakka, egg and radish

Note: HM in this case is not Hennes&Mauri but Home Made

Okei... I admit... we had a lot of nice food yesterday for Juhannus-dinner... so some of this is leftovers and not specifically made for me ;)
