Arctandria

 Arctandria is a "kystlag"; a group of people who (for an insider) are making an appreciatable effort in keeping alive traditional Norwegian coastal know-how and (for an outsider) seem like playing a "old-times in Norway" roleplay with things ranging from old-fashioned wooden boats to lutefisk-making. Fun! We decided to give it a go this year to see if it is something fun for us. This far we have helped with spring-maintenance of the boats. Being people who have limited knowledge on "nordlandsbåt" it in practise has meant for our part a lot of carrying rocks and some carrying and painting of boats. These boats are kept stable by a ballast of rocks instead of a keel. But to lift a boat ashore, those rocks are not needed. And to lift a boat like this ashore is quite cool. You need a bunch of people leaning their backs on the boat sides and pushing upwards with legs. And then some very old-fashioned shouting and there the boat goes!
