Frozen land - Moving pictures

"Frozen land - Moving pictures" is the slogan for Tromsø International Film Festival, TIFF, held in late January. It is always a nice week with a great atmosphere around the end of the dark season. Loads of people out on the town and you frequently bump into old and new friends. This year I got tickets as a Christmas present, so after the festival I am able to recommend a bunch of films :) If you want a more thorough description, check out for example TIFF home pages. And it goes without saying that all of the movies listed below were great!

Amama- when a tree falls: a fiction movie from the basque country, about adult children of a family that is - very - deeply rooted at their mountain farm.

Angry Indian Goddesses: a fiction movie about a group of young women in India, with more than a hint of society critisism.  

Democrats: a documentary about two guys who have been writing the new constitution of Zimbave.

Arctic Superstar: Documentary about a samish rap-singer from the middle of Finnmark.

Middelhavet (Mediterranea): A fiction movie based 90% of the main actors story as an immigrant across the Mediterranean.

Quebekoisie: A bike-road-movie documentary about a young couple in Quebec searching to understand the people of their country.


Spotlight: A hollywood-fiction about a group of journalists working to uncover child abuse by the catholic church.


Stabukker: A fiction movie about two brothers farming sheep in Iceland at neighboring farms. They have not talked to each other in 40 years.
